Wearing rings with gemstone in the fingers to add glamour is an ancient custom. This custom is common in all the countries around the world. Here, a stone or a gemstone is considered as an ornament.

Similarly, it is also a common (or Universal) custom to wear rings with various stones to have a better turn of luck. It is very hard to tell how old this custom is.

Some people think of the fact that, “One can change his or her luck by wearing a gemstone” as a mere superstition or a wrong notion. And others believe that “If a pure and exact stone is worn, in that case, luck will turn for sure.” There are others, who think that the chemical actions and reactions of a gemstone on a human body is rather a scientific fact. There are yet others, who think that the gemstones certainly have some impact on human health.

However, like the Astrology is still proceeding in this era of scientific extravaganza, the use of Gemstones as well is running amidst of all these positive and negative concepts and opinions.

The interesting part of it is that, many people who are lean to science, even those who themselves are scientists, wear rings with various kind of gemstones recommended by their astrologers to avoid any possible ominous influences on their luck.

Does this fact indicate that they have found a scientific base that ensures a gemstone can change one’s luck? Well, that could be learnt from surveys, research and interviews.

A few years ago, I saw an interesting interview in the Indian TV Channel named Tara. Some female representative of Tara Channel was taking the interview of a famous Cancer Researcher. The representative asked, “Sir, you’re a famous scientist, then why there is that gemstone ring in your finger? Why do you wear it? Can we accept such superstitious mentality of a medical scientist?” The Cancer researcher smiled cleverly and replied, “Well, many people wear it for good luck. That’s why I have worn it too. If it has some advantages, then it’s better. If it doesn’t have any advantages, no loss. But you must at least agree that the gemstone in my ring is beautiful!” – saying this, the scientist raised his ring worn hand to the TV Camera. This is an example of the difference between scientific and nonscientific thoughts.

Everyone knows that horoscope is one of the many branches of Astrology. In fact, anyone who wants to wear a gemstone to change his or her luck must wear a suitable stone and the stone should be properly weighed. However, these factors are determined through the study of his or her particular star sign (sun sign).
